Three pairs of hands. One journal at a time.
Our workshop sits above a print shop in a quiet quarter of the old town. Each journal passes through three binders before it's boxed β one to cut and skive, one to sew and round, one to finish and inspect. We make fewer than two hundred journals a week. We think that's the right number.
Read our storyCarried by writers we admire
βI've filled four Correspondents in two years on the road. The leather looks better than the day it arrived.β
βIt's the first notebook I haven't abandoned by chapter three. Something about the weight of it makes me show up.β
βThe paper handles my Pelikan with sepia ink beautifully. No feathering, no bleed. I bought one for every editor on my desk.β
Questions, answered
How long does shipping take?
Domestic orders ship within 2 business days via tracked courier and arrive in 3β5 days. International orders arrive in 7β12 business days. Shipping is free on orders over $120.
What's your return policy?
If your journal isn't right, send it back within 60 days for a full refund β used or unused, no questions. We want it in the right hands.
Can I refill my journal when it's full?
Yes. The Novelist, Traveler, and Archivist all accept our signature refills. For sewn-in journals like the Correspondent, send the cover back and we'll rebind it for a small fee β for life.
Will the leather scratch?
It will, and it should. Our leather is unfinished full-grain, which means it records the life it lives with you. Scratches soften into patina within weeks.
Do you offer monogramming?
Yes β blind debossed initials are included free on any cover. Add them in the notes field at checkout.
